Do I Need To Change The Oil Filter On My Lawn Tractor?

I have a 12 horse power briggs and stratton engine. It is pretty old i'd say around 20-25 yrs old. I just changed the oil in it and I was wondering if you are supposed to change the oil filter after each oil change. Do all small engines HAVE oil filters??
