Can i switch on the engine of a honda civic while it is stationary for a prolonged period of time ?

i own a honda civic and i hate joining the girls with their shopping so i wait in the parked car itself.But living in the tropics my city is damn hot.So i need the aircon and hence the engine.But one of my friends said that switching on the engine for
only if it over heats. with the engine runnig and the air con on it will heat up and if over heats then yes it will damage it. I would go in and check out other girls while yours is busy that way she is happy and you are horrny when you get back to g
