My 2001 Ford Taurus Wagon Overheats, Brown Coolant?

I have a 2001 Ford Taurus Wagon with 3.0 DOHC engine. It overheats while driving down the highway but doesn't overheat when idling or driving around town. It takes awhile to overheat, unless I have the AC on, then it overheats very quickly.
